My iPod Touch pauses randomly. Can anyone help me?

Hello!

So my iPod has this strange tendency to pause randomly while it plays music. It has gotten to the point where it makes listening to music impossible (and therefore the iPod useless). I have tried everything:

-the 5 or 6 R's that Apple is promoting
-i have changed headphones numerous times (i think it might be the headphone jack)
-i have even sent it into apple care and they sent it back saying they are "unable to reproduce the symptoms"

It seems to work properly when i plug it into a stereo that has the same hookup as the ipod update cable.
can anyone help me!

My touch has recently started to pause randomly during playback of music or movies. Although I don't doubt some users may be experiencing this due to a poor headphone connection, this is not the only possible cause.

I use my touch with numerous earbuds as well as a Motorola bluetooth headset and a Motorola D650 dongle that plugs into the multi-pin connector. Music still pauses randomly. This obviously rules out the headphone jack.

Touch has been updated to 3.0 (also paused before upgrade)
Touch has been reset and restored

I'm now draining the battery to give that a shot but suspect it won't matter.

Using iPhone earbuds with my iPod touch was not the issue in my case since the problem occurred with a variety of headphones. Shortly after posting, a trip to the Apple store to get help with the issue was rewarded with the genius bar replacing my iPod touch with, what I am assuming, is a reconditioned one. The new Touch has worked fine ever since.

Cut and paste from another thread on the same subject:

"I think I have the solution! I drained the battery and _left my iPod touch untouched for a couple weeks_. When I charged it again the problem was gone. This is over a month ago, and the problem has disappeared. It plays perfectly, and no other problems!

Please reply if this works for others

PS: I have upgraded to 3.1.1"

Month and a half now, and still no problems!

Noticed something kinda interesting.

if anyone notices their Ipod touch pausing alot in a row, try blowing (kinda hard) in the ipod connection port, it seems to stop it for a long period of time.

this seems to be a temp fix as it will return but just further shows that this is a hardware problem.

someone else try this out, see if it works for you.

For my pausing problem I tried the Five Rs as well as draining the battery and nothing seemed to help. I didn't try the blowing thing suggested here recently though.

In the end I just took my iPod Touch to the local Mac Store for a Genius Bar consult. The guy there was extremely helpful. He said the problem was definitely hardware related and he suspected it had to do with the memory board (that's what I recall him saying - don't hold me to it). So, he replaced my iPod Touch with a new one and I have had no further problems. Just so you are aware, I was lucky enough to have the pausing problem happen instantly when he tested it. I don't know how quick he would have been to replace my iPod if that didn't happen.

So I highly recommend if you are having this pausing issue and your iPod is still under warranty - get yourself a Genius Bar appointment ASAP. I was in and out in a matter of minutes. Thank you Apple!

I'm running 3.1.2 on a iPod Touch 1g 16gb and I'm having the same problems as everyone else. I've completed the 5r's, battery drain and I blew into the Dock connector and headphone jack.

The problem occurs when the iPod is docked and undocked which indicates it's not a problem with the headphone jack.

My iPod touch is out of warranty. What condition do Apple replace after the warranty has ran out.

I'm having this problem too. I tried to watch a movie, and it started. Now its doing it with playing music. Its pretty annoying, when its locked, and have to unlock it just because it randomly pauses. I'm going to a apple store near me Friday, to see if they may give me some help. I doubt it, because I'm not the original owner and its way out of warranty, I bought it from a guy on the internet. I have bought the most recent update, 3.1.2, and after that, it started. All the applications work fine, not slow, or glitchy. An annoying problem.

My iPod Touch pauses randomly. Can anyone help me?
