My iPod Touch pauses randomly. Can anyone help me?

Hello!

So my iPod has this strange tendency to pause randomly while it plays music. It has gotten to the point where it makes listening to music impossible (and therefore the iPod useless). I have tried everything:

-the 5 or 6 R's that Apple is promoting
-i have changed headphones numerous times (i think it might be the headphone jack)
-i have even sent it into apple care and they sent it back saying they are "unable to reproduce the symptoms"

It seems to work properly when i plug it into a stereo that has the same hookup as the ipod update cable.
can anyone help me!

Mine also pauses at random, I think it has something to do with the battery or power management, which can be either software or hardware related. it happens mostly at random for me but seems to get worse as it gets down into the red.

things I have tried to fix it

different headphones (still did it)
restore (still did it)
restore w/ no apps (still did it)
bluetooth headphones (via a bluetooth adapter since its 1st gen) (still did it but VERY rarely).
Also I would like to add that when i'm running it on an ipod dock, it still does it but not very. (so its not just the headphone jack)

i'm running 2.2.1 i'm thinking of upgrading just to see if it fixes it, any success stories?

I called apple and they want $199 to fix it which I think is completely bs!

Not just me with this problem then. I have a 1st G Touch that keeps pausing when I play music or videos. I have sent it back to apple and was told that their was no problem with it.

After restoring the dvice it worked OK for a day. I know that it's not a problem with the jack as I tried the device on loads of other ear phone etc. I have deleted all apps and just had music on the device to see if that makes a difference.

Mine (1st gen 16G Touch) does similar. Doesn't seem to be affected by earphone usage... but when it's plugged into my FM transmitter it some times pauses ... sometimes doesn't. Weird.

While this symptom started shortly after I updated to 2.2.1, I actually think it's a coincidence and the data jack is loose or something.

I'm still open to suggestions tho.

When playing games (any game), the audio output may work for a few minutes, then it doesn't work for a few minutes, then it's back, and so on..

When listening to music, when the audio output stops the music still plays for 2-3 seconds then it goes into paused mode automatically. If I press play again, the audio is back. This happens randomly, from 5 seconds to half an hour or even more.

I tend to disagree. I just updated to OS 3.0 and all sound problems are gone!
Now I found a new bug, after playing with the Bluetooth (it's off at the moment), I can't get any sound trough the internal speaker, only the headphones work now. Once I remove the headphones the volume slider dissapears and the external volume buttons won't work anymore.

Looks like several other people are having the same problem.

I updated my iPod Touch 16 GB (2nd generation) to OS 3.0 with the hopes the intermittent stopping problem would be solved. It still happens.

I tried a partial reinstall of all my podcasts. Problem continued.

I tried a full restore. Problem continued.

It is not related to the earbuds, because I can duplicate the problem without any earbuds attached.

I have had the same exact problem. It pauses with every pair of headphones that I plug into it, but coincidentally, it does not pause when I plug my car jack into it or hook it up to a dock. I went to the apple store, they restored it, it still paused. I took it back, they played it for 30 minutes and of course it did not pause for them, so I don't know where to go from here. They said to bring it in for diagnostic testing. Unfortunately, I cannot do that until after my trip to Japan. I was really disappointed, because that is a 14 hour flight or so and I really hope that this problem doesn't occur on the plane.

My iPod Touch pauses randomly. Can anyone help me?
