Download icon

I accidentally clicked and tossed the download icon and it disappeared. How do I restore the icon where it used to be next to the documents icon.

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

Go to your home folder and drag the "Downloads" folder from there back to the Dock.

Hi There

You can go to your home directory (use the finder go window by pressing command + Shift + G then type in ~/ and select go). then drag and drop the downloads folder on to the dock.

I did that, but it's just a little sheet of paper with a folded corner. Is that right? I thought it looked different before I removed it.

It will show the icons of some items you have in your downloads folder. Empty the folder and you will see it appear as such in the Dock. If you put a single image in the folder, you should see the preview for the image in the Dock icon. It's dynamic this way.

I did the same thing, I think. Somehow my download icon on the dock disappeared in a poof and I tried dragging the download file onto the dock. In the download box there is now a folder called download but when I click on an attachment in my email, it no longer makes the box "jump" and when I click on the download file in the box, the attachment is not there. Any ideas how to download my email attachments now??? Thanks for any assistance!
