pitch bend range

I'm sure this must have been discussed somewhere but....

I haven't had the need to use GB very much but I have been playing with it today and I was wondering how to change the pitch bend range on an instrument. in one part of the song I want it at 2, then in another section at 5 then at 12. can this be done in GB?

Powermac G5 dual 2.5 Ghz, Mac OS X (10.4.11), Logic Studio, DP5.13, MOTU 896HD (Black Lion), coffee pot

Actually, I misspoke, the amount of Pitch Bend that can be achieved in GB, is dependent directly on the instrument. i.e. many Drum kits sounds can bend up to 3 octaves, but Guitars will only allow bends of 2 semitones (which kind of makes sense, unless you wish to emulate a whammy bar). The book "How to Do Everything with GarageBand", on pg 168, also verifies this point as a special note: "Usually, pitch bend covers a range of two half-steps. But some instruments can be set to a pitch range of one octave or more."

However, there does not seem to be a means to change this range from within GB. Although, I did read a posting that if you bring a GB project into Logic, and edit it with exs24 you can change the range.

Sorry to say Donald, as you may have surmised by now, that the Pitch Bend range in GB is hardcoded at 36 semitones (re Pg 15 of the GB 09 Getting Started manual). Unfortunately, this can be quite problematic when importing commercial midi files, depending on whether the composer uses default midi range or modified it as you would like.

Sorry, can't give you a more encouraging reply.
