Sliding Panels

Is it possible to edit the Sliding Panels slideshow?

There are some photos which do not lend themselves to the format when the screen is split in 2 horizontally... Can you force the slideshow not to use that format for specific photos?

Thanks

You probably cannot edit the theme, but, if for instance someone's head is getting cut off, you can click (twice ?) on the picture that is having the problem and it will take you to the picture editing screen, where you can crop it to eliminate the cut-off head, or more specifically to limit the picture to the part you want to show, then press "done" and you are back to the themed slideshow, with the now hopefully better represented picture.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for replying, but I have this exact difficulty, and I'm not sure how to implement your solution. For example, if the Sliding Panel theme is cutting off someone's head, how do I ensure that they are not cut off? You had suggested cropping the pic. Should I make a copy, and crop it to a strange shape (ex. an elongated rectangle) that contains everyone's head, and add this to the slideshow instead?

A bit of a strange solution, but I think I will give it a try to see if it works.

A much simpler solution would be if Apple gave us the option for iPhoto not to zoom in on certain photos. The face-finder option on the Sliding Panel theme is great, until you hit a photo where it doesn't work at all. At that point I wish I could turn it off for that photo.

Cheers!

Hi, and thanks Phil

" if the Sliding Panel theme is cutting off someone's head, how do I ensure that they are not cut off? You had suggested cropping the pic. Should I make a copy, and crop it to a strange shape (ex. an elongated rectangle) that contains everyone's head, and add this to the slideshow instead?"

Basically yes but two things.
Firstly if you use the + button to add a slideshow and then work on it in the slideshow screen,
IF one is messed up as you go through them with the forward-back buttons, you can double click it and go to the edit screen. Feel free to crop the pic as you described, But do not bother to copy it, iPhoto is non-destructive and will give you back the original pic anytime ( menu option- revert to original).
When you have sliced the picture as you said you can press "Done" and you will pop back to the slideshow screen. At this point you might want to adjust the Ken Burns or sizing for the individual picture.
Try it.
