Everytime I plug my iPod into my computer my whole computer freezes

I got this iPod around the end of March last year and it was working really good til lately when my cousin got an iPod for Christmas. We were using the same itunes but I'm not sure what she did because I never touched her iPod. Now everytime I plug my iPod into the computer my whole computer freezes so, then I have to shut down and restart the whole computer. It does it with both iPods. So, I tried making another account on the computer because that was what was suggested for freezing computers but, when I plugged it into computer it didn't do anything. Itunes didn't even acknowledge I had plugged my iPod in and my iPod didn't do anything. Then when I just tried it again it did the same thing on the other account and froze my whole computer. Anyone have any idea or suggestions as to how I can fix this?
