Everytime I plug my iPod into my computer my whole computer freezes

I got this iPod about the end of March last year and it was working really good until recently. My cousin got an iPod for Christmas and since she lives with us we are using the same itunes and same computer but I'm not sure what she has done. Now, when I plug in my iPod it freezes my whole computer so that I have to shut it down and restart it all over. It does it to both ipods. So, I made a new account on the computer because that was what was recommended for computer freezes and the first time I plugged it into the new account itunes didn't acknowledge that I had plugged it in and my ipod didn't say connected or anything. I just tried it again and this time it did the same thing as it did on the other account and froze my whole computer so that I had to restart my computer again. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix this? Thanks.
