I have a 4.4gb .DMG that I need to compress to UNDER 4gb in order to put it on my external hdd. I zipped it up but it didn't really decrease the file size at all. Are there any other options to compress a .dmg file? OR is there any way to split it into two files and then re-join them at a later date?

Any tips would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

J.

I believe you can create compressed .DMG archives. If you have already done this then zipping won't compress further. If you haven't but the content is compressed files then zipping or compressing won't help.

I was going to suggest [Split & Concat|http://www.xs4all.nl/~loekjehe/Split&Concat> but I see its Leopard status is uncertain. There may be other similar utilities out there for which you could search.
