How do I set print selection in Safari printer settings or page setup?

I am a relatively new Mac User running Safari 3.1.2. Is there a way to print only a selection of a given web page vs. the entire page? Does this option vary by printers or is is a native Safari setting? Thanks.

Hi,

Unfortunately, it's not a feature in Safari I'm afraid.

One way people often get around it is to select the items they want to print, press cmd+c to copy them and then open a TextEdit document and paste them into there. After that, print the TextEdit page like a normal document.

You could try holding Command and Option and pressing the number 4 - this brings up a selection indicator which yo then click and drag across the area of the page you want to print and a picture file is created on your desktop. What you are doing is taking a screen shot - but not of the entire screen (that is Command-Shift-3). You can then open that picture file and print it.

If what you are trying to print a portion of page using frames you can hold Control and click in the area you want to print and choose Print Frame from the pop up menu.

Another option might be to set the magnification on the page to something larger than 100% - then scroll through the resulting pages to find the one with the content you want and print only that page number - though this will enlarge everything and the break between sections likely won't land where you want it to.

That's fine if you want to print Text - no use if you have a webpage which would run to 3 or more A4 pages and you want to print one page-worth of images and captions from a table. This is so basic I can't believe it's not a feature.

Correct, Firefox still permits the printing of a selection.

Sadly in my case the Epson DX6000 and CX3200 drivers will only permit me to print from Firefox in full photo mode. Safari allows me to print in any mode including draft - but not a selection of a webpage!!

But the screen capture facility mentioned below does work, and you can print from Preview (albeit preview insists on printing the small selection in the middle of the page!!)
