Same here, but with me Itunes keeps popping up while I'm updating my library. And since spacebar activates the stop button, things get pretty annoying when it stops searching my rather massive library every time I'm a little too late with finding out Itunes is on top again, thus having to restart it's search, again and again.
I don't have the Itunes widget running, so that's not the issue...
I have the same problem. I've discovered that command-spacebar opens my itunes, which is frustrating since that is a keyboard shortcut in another application. Instead of causing the desired action in that app, itunes opens. Has anyone found a solution?
I don't have the itunes widget running.
Oops, wrong forum I see. I'll leave this message here in case the solution works on both platforms.
Did you just install itunes 8.1? Are you also running an instant messenger program that displays what song you are playing in iTunes? Sometimes those IM things need updating after an iTunes upgrade.
Or to put it another way, an iTunes upgrade breaks the plug ins for iTunes.
For a test, you could disable the setting to display what song is playing....I am not sure there is such an option, since I don't use IM.
i fixed mine by running it as administrator. now i just enabled it in the properties window to do it automatically for me.... all u do is right click -> hit properties -> compatibility ->change for all users and check the box that says run as administrator and done its easy and it fixes the dumb glitch/bug
I have been having the same issue for days now as well, it won't minimize, when i close it, it reopens without me telling it to, i've tried everything, uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, installed an earlier version of itunes of a disk, still no go. I removed all permission including the systems then gave my administrative account exclusive permission and still the problem persists.
I use an IM client, so i will try removing the what i'm listening to feature on it, after i re-install for 4th time, as suggested. However i get the impression it won't work.
I had the same problem, but wasn't using the iTunes widget. Instead, I had the alarm clock widget on, and it had gone off this morning. I turned it off "snooze" mode, and after that iTunes quit no problem.
