Is there a firewire solution yet?

I have a Panasonic Mini-DV Camcorder with only firewire as an option for outputing video. I have a MacBook 13-inch unibody.

Does anyone know if there has been a solution made or a cord or adapter that I can input video from my MacBook via USB?

Thanks for any help...

Sorry, it can't be done, USB is not fast enough.

There are no USB to Firewire adapters. (Desperate aluminum Macbook owners are looking, but it can't be done.)

Firewire MUST be in the computer.

If you need Firewire look at the new (early 2009) white Macbook it has Firewire. (and the new NVIDIA graphics.)

or getting a new mbp as I did ... honestly I can't work without firewire . apple should have put it into the new macbook alu .. I don't really like this market strategy to drive people like me who really need the fw to spend much more money buying a mbp just to have the fw ... that's ridiculous ... hopefully apple will put it when the next upgrade will comes out ...
