Error (-9973)

Error (-9973)

Currently receiving error -9973 when trying to repair permissions to OS. Which does not allow me to repair permissions and states the following:

Repair Permissions Failed
Error (-9973) "Permissions are not enabled on the disk" encountered attempting verify/repair permissions disk0s3 MOTHER

Select the drive's icon and press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. In the section for Ownership and Sharing see if the box labeled "Ignore permissons ... " is checked. If so then uncheck it. Verify the permissions for the drive which should be:

Owner=system with r/w privileges
Group=admin with r/w privileges
Everyone with read-only privileges

If they are not as above then click on the lock icon, authenticate and change them.
