Keynote Remote Question - iPod touch doesn't appear on list of resources

I have a new MacBook running 10.5.6 plus the trial version of iWork and a 2nd generation iPod Touch with the Keynote Remote application. When I am not a work, for example at home or at a hotel, I can get the Keynote Remote to work with Keynote fine. At work, however, when I try to link Remote to Keynote I can't get it to work. If I go to Keynote on my MacBook and select Preferences > Remote, there is no iPod showing as an available resource. Both iPod and MacBook are connected to the same network (I've checked and rechecked the network names), and I can access the internet and my Exchange server email account on the iPod and the MacBook.

I have "accept all incoming connections" checked on the MacBook firewall as well.

Any thoughts?

I've had this happen to me as well on the Stanford network. I'm guessing that the Keynote Remote is trying to use some exotic port that the IT folk don't want to have open to the wild. Just a guess.

You can test it by creating an ad-hoc network with your MacBook, set your iPod Touch to connect to that, and then see if it shows up in Keynote as a resource.

In case you're new to this idea, just follow this picture and it'll be clear from there (you will be disconnected from whatever wireless network you're on at the time):
