How to STOP Logic From Automatically Quantizing MIDI?!

Sometimes in my recording process everything will be going smoothly MIDI wise. I play it in and it records it exactly how I played it. But later on in the same session, when I play more MIDI it will start to automatically quantize my notes! This is incredibly annoying because I can't get it to go back to the way I originally played it.

I'm not hitting any changes in preferences (on purpose).

How can I make Logic stop automatically quantizing my MIDI directly after I play it in?!

I've searched all the possible keyboard shortcuts for that, and none of them worked.

It's like when I first started the session, it wouldn't do this. But something happened and now EVERYTHING I play in is automatically quantized the second after I play it to go back and listen.

There must be some option somewhere that I pushed but I just can't find it ?

Have you tried this:

"Reversing Note Quantization
"Note events can be returned to their original record positions, or moved manually, by selecting the off setting in the Quantization menu. Alternately, you can click on the Q button while holding down Option.
"You can also undo the quantization of all currently selected notes by clicking on them with the Quantization tool, while holding down Option.
"You can also achieve the same result by selecting Functions > De-Quantize."

If you haven't destructively quantized your recordings, you should be able to get back to what you originally played. If not, I'm thinking perhaps you might be applying quantization BEFORE you get your notes into Logic; perhaps even at your keyboard? I have more thoughts on this, but check this first & then get back to me.

Good point. It's always worth spelling out the simple things — sometimes people simply don't know about them, & Logic is good at having things hidden in plain view; & of course once you get used to where something is, it seems more 'obvious' than when you're looking for it for the first time…

So while we're doing that — have you tried a brand-new song? Still quantising in that?
