Yesterday, my iphone and itunes were fine - still iphone works fine alone and itunes is fine alone. When I tried to connect iphone to sync to itunes (as usual), first, I received error message - ""unknown error 0xE8000024". Then I reset my iphone and now, the itunes/iphone still freeze when connected by USB - and when i disconnect Iphone, itunes error message says it is unable to detect name of iphone to disconnect and try again later. HelP.

imac, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Hey stlouiscold, you may be seeing a combination of two things, a USB connection issue and the issue discussed here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1885983Start by disconnecting the iPhone, deauthorizing and authorizing the computer in iTunes, then connect the iPhone and sync it again. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420 will show you how to deauthorize and authorize the computer. For the USB connection issue, make sure the iPhone is directly connected to a high speed USB port on the Mac. Make sure its connected using the cable that came with the iPhone. Also try disconnecting any other USB devices, other than the keyboard and mouse. Cannot sync 2 iphones with their respective Imacs. Both happened at the same time, around new firmare 2.2 and itunes 8.02. Itunes quits in the middle of the sync. I tried all options: unchecking all options, and rechecking one by one, quits anyway in the middle of sync of calendar, or apps, or podcast. Downgraded to firmware 2.1, same. Reinitialized one phone as new phone, same. The other mac with the other iphone behaves exactly the same. Tried to sync to my macbook (same configuration, 8.02) itunes does not quit but syncs NOTHING. Interesting. Both Imac are Core 2 duo, 2.4-2.8mHz, runing the last Leopard 10.5.6. I need some help here. First time iphone are failing this way. They are just good for .... phone calls.

It did not work for me - have orig iPhone with mac mini - disconnected all USB except iPhone. It start the sync using iTunes but will lose connection at contacts and sometimes other places - wait a few seconds and sync starts again - did deauthorize and authorize 2 times. If I leave the phone connected all I hear are ***** and then start again. Have not have problems in the past 2 years - did do this once before but the next time it was ok as I best remember. IF it changes tomorrow will let you know - in meantime any other ideas. A message finally comes on screen stating "unable to connect with iTunes for unknown reason (0xE8000065)"

Forget previous post for now - I took the apple base off apple cord - then plugged the cord directly into the iphone. It is syncing all changes without any *****. Sorry to trouble you.
