Photos missing after installing iPhoto '09

I installed iLife '09 last night and noticed that all of my photos from July 2007 to July 2008 were suddenly missing. Luckily, when I looked inside the iPhoto Library package I found that they're still there. Is there any way to force iPhoto to rebuild the library? The only other way I can think of to get them back in there is to make a copy of the folders containing the missing pictures and then re-import them. I'm not crazy about that idea because then I'll have to go rebuild events, etc., and more importantly, I'm not sure that all of the missing photos are in that time period. There could be others, but I haven't noticed yet, and if I have to do it manually, I'll miss them.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
