Software Update: A network error has occurred.

When I open Software Update, I get this message:
+"A networking error has occurred: unsupported URL (-1002). Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again."+

beneath which it states:
"Software Update can't check for updates because of a network problem."

If I click on Network Diagnostics, it checks my network and reports that everything is fine. This happens on wifi, or using ethernet at home and office. My IT person at work can't even figure it out, and I have searched for unsupported URL (-1002) online and cannot find a single instance.

Running 10.5.5 on a 15.2" macbookpro. Every last bit of sofware on the computer is legal. I just can't figure it out. None of our other macs (10 in all at the office) have this problem so I am at a loss.
