Contacts all listing under number sign - #.

Since either the 2.2 or 2.2.1 update when going to look at my contacts on the iPhone all but 6 of them are listed under the number sign (#) heading in alphabetical order by name.

I've tried restoring the phone, but still have the same problem. Contacts sort and show up just fine in both Address Book and Entourage.

Anyone else seeing this?

Hey djm4242,

Do the contacts have the # symbol in front of them in Entourage or Address Book?

If they show up with the symbol in Address Book or Entourage, they would show up the same way on the iPhone when synced to it.

If the # symbol does not appear on the contacts in Address Book, Backup Address Book from the File menu and then Reset the Sync History. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TA23030 will walk you though Resetting the Sync History.

Make sure you have the latest software updates for your Mac and the Entourage application. To update your Mac just click the Apple icon in the top left corner of the screen and then Software Update.

The contacts had no numbers in the names at all, so that definitely wasn't the problem.

Backed up address book, reset iSync, resynced the iPhone with replace contacts on phone checked. No joy.

Deleted the addresses and imported the contacts from the back up, then did the same thing again. Same problem.

I'm noticing that the sorting in Address Book is a little weird, so I'm starting to wonder if this is a 10.5.6 Address Book problem instead of a 2.2 iPhone problem. If I reenter the name on top of itself in an address book entry it will sometimes jump to a different spot in the address book list. I was hoping the import of the backup would fix that, but it looks exactly the same as before.
