Install Mac OS X Leopard without CD drive

you need either an external DVD (not CD) drive or another Mac with a working DVD drive. do you have access to any of that? if not you can't install leopard.

yes, of course. take the computer to any computer repair shop or apple store. if you have apple care, call apple care first.

VK, would you please go into detail in how to install using another computer's DVD drive? I'm basically at the same problem and want to avoid the costs of getting a new CD/DVD drive..

It's best to get the internal drive replaced/repaired rather than relying on an external drive since the Leopard DVD and other software is often used for diagnosis and repair on the computer and having to have an external drive to tote along with your notebook is not always convenient.

One thing I have not added yet, which I'm going to once a moderator has a chance to edit it, is installs from PowerPC to Intel or vice versa will not work either via Target Disk Mode.
