Hooking iPod directly to car speakers

Please note firstly I wish to connect the ipod to my car speakers/subwoofer WITHOUT using a cd player. The deck in my car was stolen and I am wondering if there is a way to hook it up by use of an adaptor (or two or three for that matter) I have a 4 channel amp connected to my front and rear speakers and a 2 channel amp bridged for the subwoofer. Would there be a way to hook my ipod up to the RCA cables or something? There are 3 pairs so I'm assuming I would need a few adaptors of some kind. Has anyone done this before or know if it's even possible? Any input is greatly appreciated 🙂

They do make "Y" RCA cables, i.e. a female RCA splitting off to two male RCA jacks. Cascade two of those off of each end of a 3.5mm to RCA cable, then you'll have three RCA jacks per channel coming off your iPod. However, I don't know how well that would work -- the iPod may not have enough drive level to be split three ways. You might have better results coming off the dock connector rather than the headphone jack.
