Itunes on external HD with some on Internal.

I have about a 30 gig itunes library on an external HD. My powerbooks hard drive doesn't have enough room to hold the entire library, but I would like to put a pared down version (about 5gs) of my whole library on the powerbook. Any ideas what tact i might take...other than manual loading the discs? I'm hoping i can have it work so that I can alter the smaller library easily.

thanks for any help

In preferences turn off the automatic copy to itunes library feature and keep the music folder organized.

iTunes isn't really flexible about people wanting to add and remove things from the library all the time, especially when you have them split across drives and have to disable the features I mentioned above. I do have my music on two separate drives with a single library but both drives are always connected so I am not adding and subtracting music all the time. I don't think having two separate libraries is necessarily going to help either (since somebody is bound to mention it here).
