Light leak?

In the night, I noticed a bit of light leaking out the side of my ipod? How can I stop this? Is there a way to get my iPod replaced with another one? I have the 1 year warranty, and the 180 days aren't up. I heard this also causes dirt under the screen, which I have also.

Hello, Welcome.

If you have the ability to visit an Apple Retail Center in your local regional area. You may wish to make an appointment so they can look at your iPod for you.

If it is determined that the iPod Touch needs replacement and you are still under warranty. The store will be more then happy to assist with service replacement options in store if they have it in-stock.

Please keep in mind if this is an engraved iPod Touch it may have to come in for mail in service if it needs replacement so your replacement iPod Touch comes back engraved as well if it is determined you need one.

Local Apple Retail Stores are not currently equipped to re-engrave iPod Products at this time.

Not sure about the dust getting part of the questions. but I can add my experience with the light leak and trying to return it to Apple if it helps...

After I noticed a light leak on my iPod, I called Apple right away. They asked me to send my new iPod to Apple for "repair". I did and had it returned with a note stating that nothing was wrong with it. Then I called Apple a second time and took the iPod to the Apple store (as directed by Apple). The Apple employee told me that I could switch it with the ONE other iPod available in the store (yes, they claimed to only have one spare in the whole NYC store). This was purely out of courtesy (they assured me) because they said that the iPod was "within spec". The replacement had a light leak that was worse than mine. So I went home with my original iPod. 😟
