Editing: How to fade to black at the end of 'movie"

I am new at this . . . transition did not work at end of clips because there are not two clips at the end of the "movie". Thank you.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

Select the edit point at the end of the clip and press Cmd-T.

I have placed a number of short clips together and I placed a dissolve transition
between the clips but it will not let me put a transition at the end. There must be a way to fade to black at the end. I appreciate your help!

I thought I tried that but must have not truly selected it . . . Thanks Tom you obviously are the Final Cut King!
