iSub Now Working, Fix Made.

I have just fixed the iSub for PPC based Mac OS 10.5. Its still got some glitches in it though. Trying to fix.
Heres the bugs:
~Must be plugged in when computer is started, and cant be unplugged until computer is shut off.
~Only one application can access the iSub. Not only one at a time. But only one. iTunes will play through it fine, and you can use volume buttons, but if you launch iChat or something and it makes the login sound, boom. Back to the glitchy sound.

I'm trying to work these out. I'll probably write a guide sooner or later on it. I was thinkin about charging $5 for it, but i dont think i can, hehe so there goes that idea. Ill probably write a guide here shortly. Stay tuned.

I have searched the web for a fix to this isub problem for ages. I would love to have your fix to the problem as you are the only person who claims to have fixed it! I am running an iMac G4 1.25GHZ Leopard 10.5.7 with an iSub first gen. I am nervous about putting commands in terminal and do not want to ruin my machine but I am willing to try this as an alternative to a new $100+ Soundsticks II system.

Thanks!

Can't wait for the guide for the FIX !!! I miss my iSub. I don't know how or why Apple screwed this up so bad.

Apple didn't screw anything up. Why should they support an accessory that was discontinued so many years ago? If you like the idea of the iSub, you can either get the original SoundSticks (USB) or the SoundSticks II (Analog line in). Both are fully compatible with Leopard, and sound much better than the iSub combined with built-in speakers.

Because the iSub was designed to work with Macs that are supported by OS X 10.5 Leopard. Snow Leopard is the "sea change" OS that drops support for legacy PPC machines, including those which shipped with Harmon Kardon speakers (the round G4 ones, the Sound Sticks and the iSub.)

Dropping iSub support like this is just another slight from Apple to it's customers.

Perfectly agree.

The ISub is a beautiful and perfectly working USB audio peripheral. We are not talking of a discarded technology, eg a parallel port connection PC printer. USB is up-to-date and all USB peripherals should be working on OS X Macs.
Furthermore Apple is not Microsoft and it is not dealing with hundreds of vendors, OEM manufacturers, HW solutions, drivers and variables. Apple can manage its own IT 'ecosystem' much better and more effectively and efficiently than Microsoft, with better results and less costs. PPC Macs are Apple made, the ISUb is Apple made.

Asking for the Isub to be working with PPC equipped Macs, it is just a fair request. C'mon, Apple...
