Camera Connector and Nikon D70

"Outfit" means you bought the camera body AND the standard 18-70 mm lens.

So why is "outfit" required? If someone buys the body only it doesn't work? That would be ridiculous. Why does Apple say ""outfit"????

So does anyone know...
Does the normal D70 work with the IPod camera connector
or is there a card reader that works with the Compact Flash memory cards?

Yes and yes. The iPod photo connector works fine with the D70, and there are plenty of card readers available with which it will also work.

I must be missing something. Can you please tell me how to do it?

You plug the small end of the standard USB camera cable into your D70 as usual (under the rubber flap on the bottom left corner), the other end into the iPod camera connector, then connect it to the iPod, turn on your D70, and select photo import on your iPod's menu. Obviously your iPod's firmware must support photo imports - it will if it's a colour screen iPod.

Ive done that 10,000 times...

when i go to the import screen nothing is happening. I have tried resetting things...and changing this and that
and nothing what am i doing wrong!!!

Can you give us a bit more information? Which iPod? Which version of iPod firmware? Which version of D70 firmware? What have you tried resetting and changing? On the D70, have you set the USB to 'mass storage'? (setup menu -> USB)

well i havent updated the d70 didnt know you could but i got it in November. I tried changing the USB settings back and fourth...and the IPOD is a 60 G photo Ipod. That help? How do I check what firmware it is. Im pretty new to this bear with me.

There is new firmware available for the D70. Check the Nikon support site to download it and look at your manual to see how to install it. That shouldn't make a difference to the connection with the iPod though. For the iPod, are you connecting with a Mac or via Windows? If it's with a Mac then just run software update, if with Windows download the latest iPod updater from the iPod/iTunes site at apple.com and follow the instructions to update your iPod. Do you have any problems connecting your D70 to your computer normally?

I just finished updating everything...including the camera to see it that would help and still nothing happens when I connect the Camera to the IPOD on the Photo Import screen. It is just blank. I am running Windows XP Pro. I dont have any problems when connecting my camera to the computer directly.

Hmm, sorry, well we've gone through all the obvious things that I can think of, my only suggestion is to take it to someone and ask them to do it and see if there's anything obvious that we've just missed.

I have read all the messages about connecting the D70 to an Ipod photo with a camera connector. I had the same problem. First of all set your Ipod in the hard disk mode (you can do this in I-tunes while your Ipod is connected)
If that still doesn't work try to run the Ipod updater (the latest version has solved the problem for me. I just have another problem now see the topic that I posted today!)
