assigning external Midi controllers to control the automation / Hyper Draw

I’m looking for a way to control my midi regions inside Logic Pro 8. I have prepared my Orchestral Template in Logic using 5 Farm Computers with Eastwest samples and would like to assign External Midi Controllers to control Hyper draw automation parameters on the MIDI Regions such as: Velocity, and Continues Controller data as ( CC 11 etc.) ?
The automation works great for internal plug-ins like EQ, but setting automation with midi regions not at all. I was thinking of assigning external Midi controllers to control the automation / Hyper Draw editor in arrange window.

Is this possible?

Thanks

If I am understanding what you are wanting to do correctly, sure, you can record any midi data in real time on to your midi regions from an external midi controller.

Lets say you want to record expression (CC#11) you can use an expression pedal or slider or knob on your midi controller that is assigned to CC#11. Select the region you want to record to, hit record and move the controller and logic records the midi data into a region. you can then merge the two regions or to save time you can set Logic to auto merge the midi regions for you. this is found under your Settings>Recording>midi- set overlapping recordings: merge with selected regions

hope this helps
