Insert a tab within a cell

Hi all,

I have been trying to use the tab key to insert a TAB within a table cell in Pages 09 with no sucess because as soon I press the tab key the cursor moves to the next cell (if available) or just inserts a new cell.
I have tried with shift-tab but that selects the previous cell.
Any ideas? on how to make use of the tab indents within a cell in pages 09?

Thanks,
Canimus

I know that the menu Help is only designed for a few set of users.

It's annoying because it offers interesting resources.
For instance, there is a menu item entitled "Pages Shortcut" and guess what, there is an entry entitled "Insert a tab".

Of course, I will leave you do your duty entering the resource 😉

Your example is exactly what I mean. If I do a search for inserting a tab, a whole lot of links come up. The one you point out (Setting Tab Stops to Align Text) is not something that I'd expect would contain the answer I'm looking for. I know about tab stops. I don't expect this topic to tell me about inserting tabs in a table cell. Pages' help frustrates me quite often.

In my responses every word is meaninful.

If you look carefully, I didn't post screenshots of the Help but of the User Guides.

I wrote several times that searching in the Help may be difficult because it's an indexed tool and that as every index, the number of entries is not infinite.

The User Guides are PDFs so when we search in them we search in the full text and we may easily find what we need.

In you case, the worse search would be with the keyword TAB and even with it you would get the wanted info.

As I know that to enter a tab we must at least press the tab key, I searched for "tab key"
double quotes required with Preview under 10.5.x.

The correct info is given at the 2nd occurence.

Hi All,

I think that indeed we need to pay more attention to the help information available in Pages '09 and that perhaps some people gets frustrated about not finding a quick answer of their needs via the help and they perhaps find the usage of the forums as the best shortcut to share knowledge.
Yvan it looks that you know a lot about pages and I really appreciate your help in the various topics you participate, and also with the clear depiction of the problems, I still remember you even add a bug report on my behalf about the sub-totals in Numbers per category.

I think is also important to read carefully the post because the answer I was looking for was quite simple and that was just holding the option key to use move the cursor to the tab within a cell, as the tab was previously inserted in the right position of the paragraph.

Anyway, thanks for your participation, and as Yvan said: Keep reading!!

Regards,
Canimus
