Why Can't we display all IPOD screens on TV output?

I love to hook up my ipod to the tv to see photos but you can't change songs playing while viewing and it would be really nice to be able to sit on the couch and use the remote to change songs and see the play list on the TV.

It should be easy for Apple to support this with new firmware to allow TV output all the time. Is there any way to suggest this. Am I the only one who would like this.
