Can't Select Clips

I am having the same problem. When I open Imovie it works for a couple of minutes, but after a while it stops working.

When I close & open iMovie it seems to work but not for long.

Did you find a solution?

Same issue here - I can only edit for a minute or so then I cant select clips, and even if I do add clips, when I restart iMovie09, the changes don't get saved.

Are you working on a particularly long movie by chance? Mine is over 30 minutes.

Running a Mac Mini Core Duo 2Ghz, 2GB RAM, 320GB HD, Leopard 10.5.6.

My movie was not longer than 15 minutes.

It seems to "break" only when I change the speed of a clip...is that the same with you?

What if you single click and then open the inspector?

It says "No Clip Selected" using that method. Strange indeed!

If you open iMovie Preferences/Browser how do you have your double-click set up? (Edit or Play?)

Also how do you have clicking in Events browser set up? (deselect all, select entire clip, select a fixed length clip?)

In my setup it has double cick to edit and clicking in events browser selects 5 seconds.

But I just tested with the other configs and it's the same thing.

For me, I lose the ability to select a clip as soon as I modify the speed of a clip. Could it have something to do with the compression of the file?

I tried using other formats (DV, ...) but it ends up with the same thing.

Once it 'breaks' then it gives me a "no clip selected" message.

I definitely had a number of speed adjustments in my non working movie. After a call to support, the only thing they could tell me was rebuild the movie. grrrr.

We'll see if I run into the same problem - I'm just not looking forward to the 5+ hours its going to take...

Once you have opened the inspector and are adjusting the video, the audio, etc., you can select additional whole clips to apply similar adjustments to. But you need to close the inspector before you can select a group of frames, etc.

See if you have and inspector window open.
