Safari: How to switch between tabs using a keyboard shortcut

It worked for Safari for Windows, the shortcut to change from 1 tab to another is Ctrl + Tab.
now i doesn't work for apple's keyboard, i tried Command + Tab, Option + Tab, Ctrl + Tab.
hope this won't bore you guys.

Press the Shift, Command, and one of the square bracket keys. These shortcuts are found in the Window menu.

The Command>Shift>bracket command does work, thanks...but the shortcut displayed in the Window menu to do this (on my system, at least) lists Control>right Arrow key for forward and Control>Shift>left arrow for back...which does NOT work. Nowhere do I find the shortcut you gave, but at least I can do it using that. But I am completely bewildered why the shortcut listed in the menu doesn't work...how can that be? And more importantly, how can I make it work?
