photo album transitions

For some reason when the photo album transition picks photos for the small images during the transition, it is choosing images from the beginning of the show for the beginning transition then halfway through, skips to the actual next image so it looks bad and jumpy. Can't figure out a way to change that since that image isn't numbered so I can't move the number marker. it happens exactly halfway through the transition. This isn't the case with the first half of the movie. Those work flawlessly. And I'm dragging the transitions from the "bin" of transitions and not from other parts in the movie.

I am having the same issue with the automatic images in the transition switching halfway through. I'm using the Scrapbook theme though, so we know it's not related to just one theme. Another problem I'm seeing is that the numbered images don't always match up with where I have selected them on the timeline. Sometimes they are one photo off.

I installed the new iMovie update today and it doesn't seem to fix the issue. Has anyone else seen this problem or found a way to fix it?

I think I have the same problem. Im using still photos, and when I add in a themed transition its 50/50 as to whether it works ok. It tends to affect transitions later in the project and happens to all the themes. Standard tranistions are not affected.

It seems that as the transition progresses it briefly shows an image from a previous transition. This ruins the effect. Its not just in preview but also a built project, which sorrta *****.

I did however find a solution. Selecting the transition and then the Precision editor. I found if i adjusted the length of the transition by dragging the ends of the icon in the middle i eventually found some setting that stopped the flicker effect.

Hope this helps...

Some of the scrapbook effects let you choose all of your photos, some let you choose some of your photos, and others don't let you choose any (those just move from the pict. you are on to the next pict. in the show).

I kept having the same problem with the pictures that were showing up not being the ones that I marked. I finally figured out that the problem always happened when I added new photos or edited in front of the transition... the markers don't move with your changes and the photos keep getting messed-up. My best solution was to stop adding my transitions until I was fairly certain that I had added all of my photos and videos and wouldn't be moving things around anymore... then add your transitions. -Don't know if this is the best fix, but it works.

I was at around image 27 or 28 when I started noticing this very same problem as you described.

Using an idea from someone's reply in this thread, I went back and discovered that if I went into the Precision Editor for the transition, dragged the edge of the transition marker to make it longer (3 sec's up to 4 secs), clicked 'Done', then double-clicked the transition and entered 3.0 sec's in the Transition attributes dialog, then the problem went away and it used all the correct images through the transition.

Whew! Glad to have found a work-around. A few extra steps per transition, but that's better than the despair I was starting to feel as this BUG ruined my efforts!

So I went to do this fix and for some reason unknown to me, it wasn't happening anymore to the main photo. This was before even trying to fix the issue. What I did notice was that it was now affected some of those smaller images that the transition flies over but only in one particular type of theme transition. Since I'm still waiting for a few more images to come to me, I'll try the suggestions you posted to get it to work. I hope adjusting the times as Leland posted will help that issue too. THanks for the help!

Anyone have any more luck with this? I've tried the suggestion of trimming/stretching in the precision editor, but haven't had any luck.

Once in a while a theme transition can be added, and it just seems to work, but most of the time, the starting clip disappears halfway through, and the ending clip is empty until halfway through. Very annoying!

OK wait....describe again the problem? I don't quite follow. I use this transition all the time without any issues. You are trying to use the theme in imovie for scrapbook or photoalbum? I have used both. If you double click on the transition, it will bring up small bubble/tackpin pointers. You can move these pointers around to represent the image you want displayed during the transition. You can also lengthen the transition, but it also depends on how much footage you have before and after the transition.
