There is not a custom EQ preset for a particular song available with the iPhone, and I don't believe there is a 3rd party application that provides for this. I think it is doubtful that Apple would allow such a 3rd party app for the iPhone.
If you select a custom EQ setting for each song in iTunes on your computer, the custom EQ setting for each song that is transferred to your iPhone is included with each song. On your iPhone, go to Settings > iPod > EQ, and set the EQ to Off or Flat, and the EQ setting for each song in iTunes will be used when playing the songs on your iPhone.
And you will save some battery consumption while playing songs in the process. If you turn the EQ setting on your iPhone to something other than Off or Flat, more battery will be used with playing songs, and the same applies to an iPod.

Thanks for the information. I also know that on iTunes I can create a custom EQ and name it. I believe I can then import that song with those new EQ settings to the iphone, but that requires adjusting each song seperately in iTunes. I was hoping that eventually there may just be an equalizer within the iphone itself for playback.
There is an EQ setting on the iPhone, but it is a global EQ setting for all songs which can't be customized, and you can't set a different EQ setting for each song. Even if you could set an EQ setting for each song on the iPhone, you can do the same with iTunes, so the time involved would be the same.
With iTunes, you can customize your EQ settings - not use the default Rock EQ setting for a particular rock song for example, and this is transferred to your iPhone with the song. Set the EQ setting on the iPhone to Off or Flat, and your customized EQ setting for a particular song and your EQ settings for all songs in iTunes is transferred to your iPhone with the song.
And when the EQ setting on the iPhone is set to Off or Flat, you use less battery consumption when playing music.
