Connecting iPod- Recovery Mode driver software

I was trying to update my iPod, but for whatever reason, it would not update. Now all of my iPod data is erased, and it keeps asking me to connect to my computer, and no computer will recognize the iPod as anything but new hardware. My computer tells me to find a download for "Recovery Mode" driver software one the website, but I can't find it. Please help me!

Hello, Welcome to Apple Discussions.

I apologize that you lost data on the iPod Touch and are not able to update it at this time.

You say the iPod Touch says connect to the computer. Are you getting a USB Cable & iTunes Logo on the iPod Touch? or an actual message saying connect to iTunes?

When it is connected, Hold down the Home button & Sleep wake button together, Do not let go. iPod Touch will power off, then silver apple, then will get USB and iTunes logo. Let go if you see this.

Relaunch iTunes, Should see it in recovery mode. If not disconnect and reconnect.

Are you getting the iTunes symbol and the USB icon? If you are do the following, because I just called Apple today, and this thankfully worked:

1. Uninstall the following following programs:
a. Apple Mobile Device Support
b. Apple Software Update
c. Bonjour
d. Quick Time
e. iTunes

2. Go to www.apple.com/iTunes

3. Download iTunes

4. After opening iTunes plug your iPod to your computer, and you should be able to open it in Recovery Mode so that you can Restore your iPod.

Unfortunately you will have to re-sync your iPod, but it should work.
