Best way to strip unwanted PPC code from Universal applications

Hello all.

The question is what is the best free / low cost App to strip unwanted PPC code from Universal applications?

As many of you, I have both a PPC Mac and an intel-Mac. I need to be able to strip off the fat from Apps to save HDD space. If I am running an App on the PPC, then I just want PPC code. Same goes for intel-Mac Apps.

The idea for having both kids of code on a single DVD or CD ROM is great, but we should be able to pick, (or the computer should be able to tell what kind of computer it is running on), the type of code to place on the HDD. If you are running a program on an intel-Mac, then you don't need PPC code. Same thing goes the other way around.

Just my two cents.

TIA,

Monolingual can do that. It's first mission is to remove unneeded language files from your apps, but it also removes PPC or Intel code, depending on what type of Mac you're running it on. It's also smart enough not to remove Intel or PPC code from an app that only has one or the other.

For more detailed instructions on Monolingual, read through Using Monolingual.
