I did some digging, after trying unsuccessfully to install a dell 968 wireless printer on my new macbook. (I'm also brand new to mac!) I found out that Dell does not have mac drivers for this printer. Realizing that Dell does not manufacture the printers, I did some googling and found out that the Dell 968 AIO (and similar) is actually a 9500 series Lexmark AIO. Lexmark does provide mac drivers. I then downloaded the drivers, removed the printer from the left pane of the print and fax dialog box under system preferences, installed the drivers, and BINGO! Mac OSX found the printer and named it Lexmark. I tried a test print, and BINGO again! It printed without a hitch!
I've also tried, the last 2 days, all tips and hints from Google.
Unfortunately, without BINGO effekt.
If i search over the network or add the printer manually by entering the IP allways the same Message. "No printers found". The Printer is ready an can pinged from my mac. I've also tried to disable FW and check the logs for any fault, but nothing.
I guess, the only difference could be in the driver version or the Mac OS version.
I use:
Mac OS/X Leo 10.5.6 on MacBook
My Driver from Lexmark installed:
- 9500
Series_WebInstaller.dmg
- Version : 1.0.6
Released : JAN 22 2009
File Size: 58.75 MB
Hi I wonder if you can help me, I am following your instructions on installing a dell 969 AIO and have downloaded the lexmark 9500 series driver however when i come to install the printer my mac is still not recognising the printer. When i get to the final stage of installation where i hook my macbook with the USB cable to the printer the option to continue is not highlighted and if I look in the fax and printer box in system preferences it is recognising only as a dell i have deleted the dell rebooted and tried again but still no joy.
Any help with this would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Wow it has been a long time since I checked back. I do apologize for this.
Interestingly enough, back in Feb. I did get the printer to work one time. But that was the problem. It only worked that one time. I got frustrated and gave up.
My curiosity has been rekindled and I discovered your post Stitch.
When you say add the ip manually, how did you do that exactly?
