Aperture workflow and Canon EOS Utility

Is there any advantage to having an Aperture workflow that imports RAW images from the Canon camera (Xsi) using Canon's EOS Utility and then importing the files to Aperture?

If I use the Canon EOS utility are the sharpness, brightness, WB values, et cetera, preserved when shown in Aperture?

I saw a previous posting in this forum that says the Aperture WB values are "relative" to the image. It also recommended a standard adjustment template for Aperture/camera directly imported pictures. It seems to me I would need a template for each lighting situation.

Thanks

Adjustments to RAW files made in EOS utility (sharpness, brightness, WB, etc.) are not visible in Aperture. Also, it's possible they may make the RAW files unreadable by Aperture.

As far as WB values... WB color temperature and tint are what they are. You can always adjust them, and a "template" for each lighting situation might save you 3-5 seconds per image. IMO it's better for color critical situations to shoot a frame with a grey card in each situation. Then you can white balance with the eyedropper in about 0.5 seconds.
