Java Web Start 11.8.2 problem with E*Trade
I hope I'm posting this question in the correct forum...
This morning, software update installed a new version of Java Web Start on our iMac. All is fine with the exception of running Power E-Trade Pro.
Java Web Start will begin to launch the application, appear to be downloading the required files, then quit. Have opened Java Web Start, cleared its cache, rebooted, etc. All to no avail.
Replaced Java Web Start 11.8.2 with a backed-up version, 11.7.0. Cleared Java's cache, the E*Trade app launched as it should.
Again, cleared the cache, replaced 11.7.0 with the new 11.8.2, and again it failed.
Am back now to 11.7.0. Though the application is working, I would like to understand what might be causing this incompatibility. Clearly, something is amiss with the way Java is setup and running on this machine.
