Unaware of Mac specificities, I copied files from an external NTFS drive on my HD2. They appear as read only. Of course they won’t move to trash. I would like to get rid of them but I have no clue about how to do it. Make a clean re-install? Any way to re format HD2 only?
There is info on file permissions here
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2963
Scroll down to the section explaining the use of rm -rf /path/to/stuff/to/delete - Be careful it will delete inside the folders and is not undoable. You may also need administrator privileges.
You can use Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility to erase the second drive if you want to, it will delete all the data on the disk, so backup what you need if you decide to do this. Try the help menu in disk utility, since I cant see any erasing guides on apple.com
You should be able to delete them, and be prompted for an administrator password when you try. However, you can get information on the files (right click --> get info) and at the bottom click the lock to authenticate, and then change the "everyone" permissions to "read & write". Then try removing the files.
Great! I did use the Disk Utility after backing up whatever I wanted to keep. It worked fine.
I didn't feel expert enough to HT 2963 process ...
Many thanks for your guidance Drew!
