I was looking to upgrade my ram.I went to mac sales owc it says you can go up to 6 gigs in a late model 2007 imac? I thought 4 gig was the max is this some kind of hack?
I'm sure it's not a hack. I have read on some web-sites about people who have tried to put 8GB RAM in their iMacs. Apparently, if the iMac tries to access above 6GB the system crashes. They then state that 6GB is the realistic maximum. Again, like the chap who claims to have put 4.5GB in his iSight G5, it is anecdotal.
If you have money to burn, be my guest with the 6GB. Don't forget to post the pictures as evidence here!
Thanks, I can't see where it mentions a 3.06GHz, but I can conform that I bought a 4GB module from OWC and it is working great in my April 08 3.06GHz iMac with an existing 2GB giving me 6GB!
