MAPS icon(the one that came with the phone)

I'm in The United States, I have an Original iPhone. I noticed the MAPS icon doesn't give some locations or even directions for within a lot of different countries. I realize this is Google's reponsibility, so has anyone come across an app that would be similar to MAPS but with more info in more countries? i havent come across one as of yet

i've tried directions in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Belize and the Cayman Islands so far. Most of the time it can pinpoint a city/town and it will show me where it is, but if i try to get direction from a known point to another known point, it cant determine the directions.

An example would be in Belize. if i search for Belize City, it pin points it, if i search for Ladyville, it pin points it...but if i ask it for directions from Belize City to Ladyville...it cant determine it.

Also, if i search for George Town, Cayman Islands...it pin points the country but not necessarily the city...same goes for if i put a business name, like Harley Davidson George Town, Cayman Islands...it pin points the island but not the actual location
