Mac "Registry" cleaner

Hi markmc78;

The closest thing I can think of is Cache Cleaner but as long as there are no problems with the data in cache, it actually make your Mac run faster. Cache should not be cleaned periodically but only when you have a problem with it.

As far as the slow down goes how much free space do you have on your system drive?

There are a few things you ca do to make your make faster:

Also check how much free space you have.

There are some cleanup routines that should run daily, weekly and monthly. Go to console.app. There should be logs for daily.out, etc. For example:

Removing old log files:

Cleaning out old system announcements:

I set up my system to wake up for a while at 0310 so the daily operation is done at that time as well as a Time Machine backup (since TM likes to keep the earliest backup). I believe the daily job is set by default to run at 0315 so if your computer is off then it doesn't get run. I may be wrong on that. I figured the path of least resistance was to set up the wake up as noted.

DiskWarrior (alsoft.com) fixes and optimizes the files directories. running once every three-six months helps speed up the system. Many, like me, swear by it.

There is a widely used program called Cocktail that you may use as Shareware or buy it for $29.95 (with more features).

The link is just a general one and is not fluffy it is a link to help as is yours but you do not hear me saying anything about that. This is all about helping out some one who has a problem or quest tion not to say anything about previous posts

I am sorry, no offense meant to you for trying to help. I referred to the content of Apple's page as it is extremely basic.

MainMenu is a little freebie app not unlike Cocktail or most of the others. It sits in your menu bar, ready to be used when you want it.
