Cursor goes out of control

Since the latest update, my cursor periodically goes out of control. It stays active as if the click button is being held down. It highlights everything. Opens things and is uncontrollable. I read some other posts and test some issues. The cursor is out of control when not connected to any wireless networks, land network or bluetooth. It stays out of control even if the computer is turned off and then restarted and even after disk permissions, disk repair or disk warrior are run. Also, I have seen at least two other notebook computers recently do the same thing. One a macbook running the latest Leopard, the other an old powerbook running the latest Tiger.

What is going on here?

The problem continues. It may have something to do with the track pad and external mouse interaction. Both can be active, but if I run Safari, or connect to the other computer on the network and try to copy something, the problem returns. I've turned off the track pad when an external mouse is connected. That prevents the problem from start up, but if I unplug the external, the trackpad screws up. Its as if the clicker is permanently pressed on the trackpad.

I've done a bit more research and have concluded it is a defective trackpad button. I have a squishy button and others have had the same problem. The trackpad works, but the cursor acts as though the button is always held down. When I tap on the button a few times, sometimes that briefly cures the problem, but the problem quickly returns. It must be a defect in manufacturing or in the design of the trackpad and button.

The origami approach worked. I experimented with two different thicknesses of paper and one worked. My button/clicker now works and the cursor moves more or less normally. This problem is obviously a design defect. Anyone else having the same problem should try the origami solution which can be found here:
