Printer Setup Utility Quits Unexpectedly
I just bought an Epson Artisan 800. While installing the printer S/W one of the first things you do is Add the printer but the 800 was never recognized and could not be added. Ultimately I skipped this step to come back to it and completed the rest of the S/W install. Then Printer Setup Utility began having trouble recognizing my older connected printers and began quitting while trying to get it to recognize to new printer and now quits after 1/2 to 3 seconds but I do see the 800 on the printer list. I tried to uninstall/re-install the Epson S/W with same result. I also down loaded and ran newest installers from Epson...no change. I've reset printing, trashed all printing related plists(that I'm aware of) for epson, apple, printing, printers, etc and they are recreated at reboot but problem stays the same. Now interestingly ANY installer I try unexpectedly quits. Crash logs for Mac OS Installer(for example) says KERN
PROTECTIONFAILURE (0x0002) at 0x00426f01 and for PSU says KERN
INVALIDADDRESS (0x0001) at 0x92e3e9b9. The crashed threads for both list libSystem.B.dylib.
Other efforts include permissions and HD check/repair (both always fine). I tried my 'test account' and safe mode and at first thought it was an account or startup app issue but then the same problems began after short period of trying to get PSU to add printer. All OS and app updates are current and machine has been super stable.
