is jawbone usb car charger safe for ip3g charging?

hey all this my dilemma and was wondering if i could get some insight/knowledge here. i just purchased the otterbox defender for my ip3g. Today I was disappointed to find out that aftermarket power cable chargers (Griffin) won't fit through the hole in the bottom of the case to allow me to charge the phone in the car. The stock Apple charger will fit perfectly but aftermarket chargers need a little more room. so im racking my brain and realize that the jawbone car charger is usb and allows for the ip3g. question is, is it safe for my phone to charge using the jawbone usb car charger with the apple usb cord? thanks in advance.

I'm not sure I understand your question. I've used my Griffin D/C charger cord and it plugs into the bottom of my IP with no problem. I've also used other cords with my Griffin also with success. Do you have a "case" that prevents the Griffin from plugging in completely? On eBay you can find extenders that fit between the IP and the incoming cable.

Also, the case I'm using is the Richardsolo.com "flip" case that opens up on the bottom of the IP for greater access to the input port.
