Can I hook my digi 003 to my new macbook pro with the 400 to 800 adapter?

Hi, I know there's an adapter to connect my digi 003 interface to my macbook pro 800firewire, but I want to know how good really is this idea, or I don't know, maybe someone with some experience has already done so please some suggestions.

It's fine. Going from FW400 to FW800, the only 'adaptation' is a change in the plug configuration. The FW800 port on the MBP is fully compatible with FW400 devices.

If the digi003 can be connected via firewire 400 then it should work flawlessly with an adaptor to firewire 800.
