I just installed boot camp and I want to know if I can transfer files from the Mac side to the windows side and if so, how? I partitioned in FAT format.

There isn't an elegant way of doing it in Bootcamp. You would have to copy the file to a flash drive or memory card, restart then new OS and then open the file. Of course the files have to be compatible between both platforms. A more elegant solution is using Parallels or Fusion to run Windows then it's just matter of dragging and dropping between OSX and Windows.

My work notebook got infested with a nasty virus this week so I had to send it in to our IT group to clean it up 3000 miles away. Good thing I had Fusion and XP running on my iMac or I would have been shut down for several days. As I was working I was easily able to drag and drop Office files between the two OS's, I have MS Office for both Windows and OS X on my Mac so it was a snap. Boy I hate Windows though with all the troubles it brings along with it.

Hi and welcome to Discussions,

Mac OSX can read and write to Windows FAT32 partitions, so a file transfer to Windows while in OSX is possible without any problems.
Personally I would make a Folder in the root directory of Windows (C:) and us it for file transfer.

When you are in Windows you can't see/use the MAc OSX partition without the help of a third-party program named MacDrive http://www.mediafour.com/products/macdrive/
