Help Ordering a Mac Book through AAFES

I have no experience purchasing Apple products from AAFES, but being retired Army I have purchased other products from their online store. I have noticed that option showing up on most products that ship direct from the supplier. My most recent purchase was an iRobot vacuum that had the same 90 day option, it was on back order and delivered 30 days after it was ordered.

I think that this is something that AAFES includes to cover the potential longer delays to ship. The best place to get the correct answer is from AAFES. Although when I asked them about my iRobot order, their answer left me somewhat less than satisfied.

(For those with no military background, AAFES stands for 'Army and Air Force Exchange Service' which runs the Post Exchanges (Army) and Base Exchanges (Air Force) as well as a worldwide Internet based 'mail order' service.) But YOU know this, don't you.

Apple offers "employee discounts" on reciprocal agreements with various companies, the military is one of those. This appears to be the link for that. I would have posted it, but didn't have it handy and because Apple has to charge sales tax and AAFES doesn't, the final cost is usually cheaper through AAFES.

Yup, I know that - the Apple Store gave me a discount on my touch and AppleCare when I showed my Retired ID card. However, the question asked by the OP referred to AAFES which ISN'T an Apple "employee discount" program.

BTW, for those who are members of MOAA, they offer an excellent program through Apple.

I GOT that link by signing into the AAFES website!!! It is a SPECIAL area of the Apple Store for AAFES customers.

And, yes I am retired Air Force so please stop being so condescending.

Yes, the sales tax is the drawback. However, since the BX at Beale AFB doesn't carry Apple products, I've found that many times I can even beat the "special" AAFES price through other sources. For example, I usually buy my computers through the Apple Store refurbished and/or clearance areas.

But that link doesn't address the original posters question related to possible backorder status "Does anyone know how long it takes to receive a Mac book when ordering it through AAFES? There is a drop down menu that gives you the option to hold the back order for up to 90 days" does it?

Ok, I see your problem.
What is your nearest Army or Air Force base? I've noticed that a FEW of the stores carry Apple products. For example Beale AFB does NOT but Travis AFB DOES.

I'm retired Air Force. None of us here can speak for AAFES; you need to ask them. I personally have have good luck with mail orders in the past.
