JavaScript in Safari -- frequently displays code instead of image

I'm a frequent reader of the New York Times website which uses JavaScript to display "asides". Quite often, but not always, this aside shows the script and not the intended image.

I'm running on OS X 10.5.6 and running Safari Version 3.2.1 (5525.27.1). If I run Software Update I'm told that everything is up to date.

I'm curious as to whether others are having the same problem and, if so, have they found a cure.

MacBook Pro 17", Mac OS X (10.5.6), 1.67 GHZ -- 17" -- 2 GB RAM
