Questions about Texting on the I Phone

I don't have an answer to your first question, but I do for your second. Rather than the person sending a picture to your phone number, have them send it to your email that you use on your iPhone (name@gmail.com, etc.). And for you to send pictures to other people, send the pictures in an email to their phonenumber's email address. Here's a list that you can use for that:

Using this method, my gf and I send several pictures to eachother everyday and it works perfectly.

Sending pictures is called MMS. When you get a viewmymessage text, send a reply to the person and tell them to put your email address in the TO field of their MMS client.

As far as the problem with your wife's number, try deleting her contact info and recreate it.

In regards to your first question, have you tried the steps in article http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1291 ?

If that doesn't work, I would also try deleting and re-adding the contact manually on the iPhone.

Yes they can. Use the "address field" - put in an email address rather than a phone number.

Yes, anybody with a phone capable of picture messaging can send or forward pictures, sounds, videos, etc to an email address (same applies for text messaging). I have a yahoo address that I have synced with my iPhone and I just give people that to send pictures to, that way I can see them and forward them with my iPhone. It's not the perfect solution for MMS, but it gets the job done.

Hi there, in reply to your mms text messages, you can go into the apps store and download an mms app, which if i remember is free. And it works a treat.

You're right about the MMS app working a treat but it is not compatible with US iPhones only with O2 in the UK.

What MMS app are both of you speaking of? There are a few I've seen on the app store that do an ok job at coming close to MMS functionality, but I was just wondering exactly which one you are speaking of.

Its just called MMS but I don't think it will even appear in the US iTunes store as like I said its only O2 compatible. According to the developer they would like to meet with AT&T but I don't know more than that. Its a shame for those of you in the US as this is a fab app which does what MMS on all other phones do.

Has anyone been able to send a picture message through the e-mail method who uses Alltel?!..

I am able to receive pictures from them to my e-mail address, however, when I send one to them, they just receive some text saying like.. picture1.jpg or something similar, but no photo...

What happens if I am on o2 with my iphone and my boyfriend is on o2 with his normal sony phone? I have tried to send a picture to him by putting in his mobile number xxxxxxxxxxx@o2.co.uk but that didnt work.

That e-mail method does not work in the UK. Download an app from the app store called MMS and follow the instructions. It works great!!! Free to receive pictures but you have to laod it with credit to send them. It costs about 35p per MMS. They don't come off your inclusive allowance from O2.
