Q: What do I do with my old iBook?

I have an old iBook from 2001-ish and just upgraded to a new MacBook. What do I do with my old one now?

Can I sell it? If so, how much can I get for it?

Or instead of selling it, can I use it as an external hard drive for backing up my files?

Yes, via a simple Ethernet network (wirelessly, if the iBook has been equipped with an AirPort card).

The new aluminium MacBook does not have a FireWire port, so this would rule out FireWire target disk mode. The old iBook's FireWire capabilities may be one reason for keeping that computer (for general intermediary use), though.

So if I decide not to use it as an external hard drive, what are my options in selling it? Who would buy an outdated model like this? Can I expect to get anything for it at all?
