Feb 25, 2009 12:02 AM in response to Noboru13by Jan Hedlund, can I use it as an external hard drive for backing up my files?
Yes, via a simple Ethernet network (wirelessly, if the iBook has been equipped with an AirPort card).
The new aluminium MacBook does not have a FireWire port, so this would rule out FireWire target disk mode. The old iBook's FireWire capabilities may be one reason for keeping that computer (for general intermediary use), though.
